Decorate Gingerbread Houses with Santa & Mrs. Claus and Storytelling with B.Z. Smith & Peggy Reza

This is a new event to Christmas Town Sonora and no doubt will become a wonderful tradition. The IOOF Lodge Sonora #10 have generously opened their lodge located a 10 W. Dodge St. as a cozy storytelling nook and for gingerbread house making.
Children of all ages are welcome to join Santa and Mrs. Claus to make and decorate Gingerbread houses with Graham Crackers, candy and Icing.
Our beloved storyteller BZ Smith will be sharing Christmas Stories with musical accompaniment by Peg Reza.



City of Sonora 39th Annual Historic Downtown Christmas Parade

RAIN OR STARS! Sounds of Christmas will fill the air with this night time parade with bright lights, floats, antique cars, and sounds of the holidays with marching bands and dancers. Starts promptly rain or shine at 6 p.m.
The route starts at the beautifully lighted Red Church and proceeds south down Washington Street ending at Restano Way.

Join us at the Fire Museum to sing in the lighting of the St. James Episcopal Church (aka the Red Church), Winterwonderland in Coffill Park, Christmas Tree Lane in Courthouse Park, and at shops along Washington Street.
Canon Anna Carmichael from St. James Episcopal Church will give a blessing. Local dignitaries will to speak. SRT Jr. will lead the crowd in Christmas caroling. And a special appearance of Buddy the Elf from SRT’s production of “Elf, the Musical”.



Voting Opens for “Voter’s Choice” of Best Tree in Courthouse Park

50 local non-profits have “planted” Christmas Tree Lane in Courthouse Park.  Each non-profit has decorated their own tree to best represent their organization.  The Christmas Town Sonora Committee will choose the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and the public will be able to vote for the Voter’s Choice.  Look for QR codes and a link to cast your vote on signs near the trees. Online voting begins December 2nd and will end on December 12th.  Winners will be announced on December 14th.

Voting Opens for “Voter’s Choice” in the Window Display Contest

We invite all the shops and businesses on Washington Street to decorate your storefront for the Downtown Sonora Holiday Window Display Contest.

Thank You to Our Judges

Mayor Matt Hawkins and his family will be picking the winner of the Mayor’s Choice. The Sonora High School Leadership Program will be picking their winning choice. And, voters will be able to vote online for the Voter’s Choice.

Voting starts online on November 22 and runs through December 12. Spot the flyers on store windows for the QR code and link.  Winners will be announced at the Holiday Mixer on December 14th at the Opera Hall.

Let’s all remember to give our businesses south of Stockton Street some love too!
